What I Enjoyed:
- Squad Dynamics: I really enjoyed the squad development and the emotional core of the characters uniting against larger threats.
- Action & Worldbuilding: I found that the pacing of the second half was stronger than Iron Flame. In this book I found there to be more devastating twists and then leaving us readers on a massive cliffhanger.
- Characters: Regardless of having a large character cast, I ending up finding the character count to be standard for this type of book genre.
What I Didn’t Enjoy:
- Pacing & Repetitive Motifs: I found that the book did sometimes drag out petty jealousy motifs. And in some parts repeating plot structures from Iron Flame.
- Romance Execution: Sometimes I found the the romance scenes derailed from the plot of the book.
Overall Score:
⭐⭐⭐⭐
My overall score for Onyx Storm is 4 stars. Regardless of some parts having the feeling of repetitiveness, I enjoyed this book a lot especially with the cliffhanger at the end.
